3 tips For Picking A Guitar For Beginners

When you first decide to study guitar normally how you will learn is the bigger decision then a beginner guitar you will purchase. Of course the lessons should be the main reason for concern and research which and what type of guitar you choose to start learning on shouldn't be glanced over.

Most beginners opt to pick up the guitar simply because they want to be able to play songs familiar to them. If you're really into singer songwriters and much more laid back styles of music then an classical guitar makes a lot of sense for your first purchase. All things considered playing a nice soft tune through an amplifier with distortion by using an electric guitar isn't going to satisfy that craving to play your favourite songs can it be.

Now vice versa, if you are into hard rock then you should probably consider purchasing a beginner electric guitar rather than an acoustic. Why? Well for a similar reasons I just used to describe the acoustic purchase decision. You will eventually want to play songs who have distortion and a harder sound about the guitar. Take now very seriously when deciding what type of guitar to buy.

2.) Acoustic is Harder about the Fingers

Here's a negative point for the acoustic guitar. Because the strings by using an acoustic are a heavier gage, then there is generally a higher action (space involving the strings and neck) by using an acoustic guitar it will be tougher in your fingers.

When you first start you'll have no calluses on your finger tips. These do form over time with practice but playing for more then a few minutes at the start is going to leave your fingers feeling pretty sore. If you choose to learn on an classical guitar then your fingers will probably be twice as sore. Of course the reverse is true also, your fingers will callus over quicker, but the initial stages of learning is a bit painful.

3.) How much do you want to spend?

I can not ignore the price factor here. It is good if everyone could easily get which ever instrument suited their fancy but the price point has to be considered. I've seen both electric and acoustic guitars across the $100 mark. They're not great instruments but they'll get the started.

If you're likely to purchase an electric guitar you will need a small practice amp to look along with it. You should use and learn at the start with no amp, but it won't be long before you'll want to start playing your brand-new found chords having a bigger sound. By having an amplifier added a beginner electric guitar can run nearer to the $200 mark, where an acoustic will likely be $50-$75 less.

There you have it. If you are using these three guidelines when buying a guitar for beginners I'm confident you won't be disappointed along with your purchase. Of course if you really enjoy playing the guitar I'm certain this will not be your only purchase but purchasing a guitar you're happy with up front will save money down the road and give you a better chance of keeping it once you start.
