learn guitar basics
I'm starting guitar soon?
This Saturday I'm starting my first guitar lesson, I have a normal acoustic as I'm just a beginner, but my dads agreed to buy me a better guitar when im more of an advanced player.
Anyway, I was really inspired by my sister's boyfriend when I saw him play guitar, I just thought it would be amazing to be able to play like him, and so I booked appointments every saturday for one hour.
Do you think 1 hour a week is enough?
I want to become a BRILLIANT guitarist,so how long will it take me to become amazing and be able to play nearly every song if im willing to practice 1 - 2 hours a day ? ( is this enough )
I'd be grateful if someone can leave advice on the following things :
How long to practice for.
How to become amazing at guitar.
Good websites for guitar.
And once I learn guitar basics , will I be able to teach myself songs if I get the music?
Will my guitar teacher only do one song a week?
Thanks, much appreciated.
I dont know what you mean by too soon. In age? Well, I was 8 when I started, so probably not.
One lesson per week is fine, as long as you master each week's lesson. Let me restate that, because that's the most important thing... MASTER EACH WEEK'S LESSON before you go back for your next one, because otherwise your teacher will basically just be practicing with you and it will slow you down and be a waste of money. To answer some of your Q's....
How long to practice for.... a couple of hrs a day.
How to become amazing at guitar... Keep up the lessons. if you begin to dislike lessons, don;t quit, just find a teacher you like more. Practice, and find some people of your ability to jam with.
Good websites for guitar... once you're able to understand tabs, just use Ultimate-Guitar and Harmony-Central like everyone else. The forums are good as well.
And once I learn guitar basics, will I be able to teach myself songs if I get the music? Yes
Will my guitar teacher only do one song a week? Hmmm... at first he'll teach you chords and exercises. Never mind "songs" right now, you don't even know how to play yet. You have to learn your instrument before you play a song. But after a while, you'll settle into a routine like that, yeah
How long will it take? If you stick wioth lessons, practice, have some rhythm, natural ability, an ear, and some intelligence, you'll probably be a decent guitarist in a couple or few years. You'll be able to have fun well before that however.
